Flow cytometry is an essential technique for establishing a differential diagnosis between acute leukemias, lymphomas, non-hematopoietic tumors, and reactive states. Immunophenotyping allows for the identification and determination of the maturation stage of the cell line involved in the leukemic process, while also providing prognostic information. It can also reveal aberrant immunophenotypes associated with leukemia in order to monitor disease progression during treatment and identify therapeutic targets for its eradication. Our laboratory is equipped with a state-of-the-art flow cytometer capable of immunophenotyping acute leukemias and acute leukemias of ambiguous lineage, B, T, and NK lymphoproliferative disorders, plasma cells, T, B, and NK lymphocyte subpopulations, and monocyte subpopulations. We also perform CD34+ hematopoietic stem cell enumeration, diagnose paroxysmal nocturnal hematuria, and detect and quantify minimal residual disease. Analysis can be performed on peripheral blood, bone marrow, ascitic fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, pleural fluid, lymph node biopsy cells in suspension, or cytologically aspirated cells, and we guarantee rapid, interpretable results that meet international standards.
